Crested Butte Sports

by Susanna Adams on Dec. 4
The snow is here! Finally! We’ve got new terrain opening almost everyday and more snow on the way! The Silver Queen is opening on Wednesday next week! In honor of all the awesome snow and the Avalanche Awareness nights we’ve been having we thought we would share some quick tips and a sweet video!
Avalanche safety is a big deal and being the “smart one” on the mountain is always the best idea. Make sure you have the right gear and you’ve checked the avalanche forecast before making plans. This video takes a minute, but it’s one of the best videos we have seen on avalanche safety. So take a few minutes and check it out, it’s worth your time!

For this week’s staff bio, we chatted it up with the man in charge in our repair shop:
Pat Rauch

Home Mountain: CBMR
Favorite Mountain: CBMR
Skis he’s ridin’: ROMP 115×185, Camber from tip to tail, No rocker
Boots: Technica Mach 1, 100
Description: I spend my whole life thinking about and chasing critters. My favorite thing in life is picking up deer and elk horns. I pass the time biking and skiing and am known best for my combat ski and bike tunes.
Gear Pick: Technica Mach 1
When he’s not chasing down all those critters in the woods, he’s hanging with us, crankin’ out those killer combat tunes and throwin’ down jokes you never see coming. Seriously though come visit him, he’ll make smile!
As for those Mach 1’s, we have them stocked and ready for ya. If you’re in the market for some new boots, they’re a great place to start!

Join the party and be apart of the world’s largest santa ski! If you have a suit, lift tickets are only $23 and if you don’t you can buy a suit for $30. After the group ski, which is open to all ages, you can join the pub crawl! If you spend $35, that will get ya a Santa suit and 5 drinks!
